One Multi Tasker 800 N for the East-African Tanzania can be found now in the scheduling of Techne’s production in Leipzig. The Techne breakdown rescue crane will be delivered to the Tanzania Railways Ltd. in autumn 2014. It will be used on meter gauge but it is also prepared for use on the standard UIC gauge (1435 mm). The Tanzanian railway system is particular as two technically independent track gauges are operated: The state-owned Tanzania Railway Ltd. operates the meter gauge track system that derives from the German colonial era. The Tanzania-Zambia Railways ,TAZARA’ is owned by a Chinese concessionaire and operates the tracks from the east coast to Zambia and to the South-African railway network in Cape gauge (1067 mm).
