FRANCE - SWITCH MODIFICATION HERALDS A NEW ERA

A new era is beginning in France: the track switch company, Travaux Ferroviaires Français, is undertaking a pioneering effort by using their own railway crane for switch modification. TFF has been working successfully thus far with rented cranes from their German-speaking neighbouring countries and was able to quickly convince the national railway association, Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF) of this modification method.
In the future, switch modifications in France should be reinforced with railway cranes – particularly in the greater Paris area where traffic congestion is high and access to the track is difficult. The Multi Tasker 1200 is specially adapted to the French needs and meets the requirements for approval by the SNCF.
